Welcome to the First Presbyterian Church of Bedford Indiana.

Established 1819

The First Presbyterian Church of Bedford is a community of believers in Jesus Christ who seek to know God's will through worship, scripture, and prayer, and who feel called to share God's love through community and global ministry.  We are committed to providing a caring, welcoming and inclusive environment to fulfill the mission of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

Please join us for worship at 10:00 a.m. each Sunday morning.

Isn't God's creation magnificent!

What a rainy week this has been!  Fortunately, we had a beautiful day for the eclipse last Monday.  And what a moving experience that was!  I am so thankful and feel so blessed that Sherri and I were able to witness that in our lifetimes.  It was one time I wished time could just stop for a while so we could soak it in longer.  Moving on, I pray you all managed to stay dry and had a great rest of the week.

The Rev. David Lee will be our guest minister this coming Sunday.  David's sermon title is The Breakfast of Champions.  Reminds me of the old Wheaties cereal slogan.  I'm interested to see where he takes it.  His scripture is from John 21 which tells the story of the resurrected Jesus meeting with his disciples at the lake shore, causing a huge catch of fish, and then fixing them breakfast!  I love this story.  Be sure to come give it a listen.

We will also be celebrating Communion this Sunday.  Thank you, Anne Hahn for doing the preparations!

Tomorrow, April 13, the Women of the Church will be meeting at 10:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.  They will be having their usual devotions, food, and fellowship.  Don't forget!

There are only a couple of things on the agenda for next week.  On Monday, April 15, the Mariners will be meeting at the Golden Corral for great food and awesome fellowship.  This is open to everyone so drop on in.  Then on Wednesday, April 17, at 10:30 a.m., the study group will be continuing with the next episode of The Chosen.  Talking to Janet at last Tuesday's session meeting, it looks like this is drawing some good interest.  Check it out if you have not been yet.

Finally, I would like to leave you with a story one of Georgia cousins posted on Facebook.  Many times in life, we just don't understand where things are headed.  This certainly applies to our church I think.  What is God's plan?  What is His will for the oldest congregation in Lawrence County (in more ways than one I think)?  Keep the faith my friends.  God is only just getting started.  The "biscuits" are already in the oven!

Peace and Hope,

Mike

A pastor asked an older farmer, decked out in bib overalls, to say grace for the morning breakfast.

"Lord, I hate buttermilk", the farmer began. The visiting pastor opened one eye to glance at the farmer and wonder where this was going.

The farmer loudly proclaimed, "Lord, I hate lard." Now the pastor was growing concerned.

Without missing a beat, the farmer continued, "And Lord, you know I don't much care for raw white flour". The pastor once again opened an eye to glance around the room and saw that he wasn't the only one to feel uncomfortable.

Then the farmer added, "But Lord, when you mix them all together and bake them, I do love warm fresh biscuits. So Lord, when things come up that we don't like, when life gets hard, when we don't understand what you're saying to us, help us to just relax and wait until you are done mixing. It will probably be even better than biscuits. Amen."

Within that prayer there is great wisdom for all when it comes to complicated situations like we are experiencing in the world today.

Stay strong, my friends, because our LORD is mixing several things that we don't really care for, but something even better is going to come when HE is done with it. AMEN!
