Main > Ministry > Global Mission > Marion Medical Mission Marion Medical Mission   Marion Medical Mission operates a health clinic, schools, health education programs, and assistance with agronomy to the people in Malawi, Africa. In that part of the world where health is poor and malnutrition is common, the help they provide makes a difference between survival and death.   AIDS is a major problem in Malawi as it is through out Africa. Mothers are helped to find alternatives to breast feeding their babies which would only doom their child to AIDS. The drugs to help cure are too expensive to bring to Malawi, so the need for funds is great to get the drugs into the country.   Health education concentrates on cleanliness, nutrition, and sexual behavior. Health is quickly improved through medical attention, cleanliness, and nutrition, but AIDS prevention requires a change in lifestyle - sexual behavior. The mission has assigned a staff person to provide education to change sexual behavior to prevent the spread of AIDS.   The mission has a need for scholarships to provide a secondary education for the adults, to provide transportation of the deaf and hearing impaired to the residence school, and to purchase bicycles for the villagers who maintain the shallow wells.   Our church has taken on the task of supporting the Marion Medical Mission and members are actively involved in supporting the mission with individual donations.
