Main > Ministry > Global Mission > Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Disaster AssistancePresbyterian Disaster Assistance provides relief to those in crisis almost immediately following a disastrous event. PDA will immediately contact people in the area of the disaster to assess the extent of the need and what assistance would benefit the people in the affected area. PDA will then send funds to provide the needed assistance which can be quickly purchased and brought to the people. PDA will also gather food, clothing,or materials that are shipped to the area. And then, PDA will organize teams of volunteers to go into the area and work with the people to rebuild and survive the crisis. PDA has provided counseling for students following school shootings. PDA provides funding to support the peace efforts in areas where people are suffering as the result of strife and warfare. But most crises do not end quickly. The rebuilding of homes, villages, and lives may take years. PDA continues to work with the people until the crisis ends - no matter how difficult or long. They are able to respond to critical needs around the world as disasters occur and long afterwards until the people are no longer in crisis. They are able to respond to needs that are not made known in the media. As a church, our members continually give to this ministry and it is avidly supported among the church members. |
